Registration for the 2017 Kings & Queens of Cuisine is now open!
The Event will be held on September 30, 2017. Chefs can begin to set up at 3 pm and doors open to the public at 6 pm.
Rules of play from last year will remain in effect. Each chef will be required to provide approximately 250 sample sizes of the dish of their choosing in one of five categories: Appetizer/Side Dish, Entrée/ Main Dish, Outdoor, Dessert, and Cocktail. There will be one King or Queen determined by the taste of food and votes cast by the public for each category. The overall King or Queen will be determined by the amount of monetary tips collected before and during the event. We encourage you to name your food in a tropical style and to decorate your space in the same fashion.
The second major change from years past is, how we will determine the winners of the individual categories. This year in order to be considered for winning your chosen category, Chef’s will be required to raise a minimum of $200 in tips and ticket sales. For this registering, you will receive a new chef’s apron and hat, space in the annual cookbook for you and your business, utensils and serving equipment, $100 in gift cards to help cover the cost of ingredients, and 10 tickets to the event worth $35 a piece. These tickets and any additional tickets a chef sells will count toward the $200 minimum as well as the overall King and Queen competition.
Each chef or chef team is given $100 in HEB gift cards to help cover the cost of ingredients!
